Home For The Holidays

Some of my tips, ideas and styles for the holidays

Always

-keep to one theme and style, inside and out... not only makes it look professionally finished, but its so much easier to shop for...

-Modern, traditional, funky, country, natural or kid friendly...

Display your favorite ornaments

“ not just on your tree ”

Table tops, dining room servers, chandeliers, mantels or hung in a window... In groupings, on cake stands, flower pots, clusters under the tree..

Colored glass ornaments

“ from the dollar store ”  look great in glass containers...

-In fact any container, vases, deep or antique bowls, jars with or without lids, bell jar, vessels, christmas dishes and tea tray ’ s can be use to display anything from bells, ornaments, pine needls-branchs-cones, artificial snow, christmas light bulbs, cranberres.

I was raised to hang silver bells off the front door knob to welcome guests...

Illuminate Everything

-Your tree should light up the room, even without any other lights on...

Now don’t just throw lights up on everything, there’s a right way and wrong way...

-So take your time...

-Use the same color cord as your decorations...

-Always hide your cords, inside and out..

-Hurricane lamps filled with lights, both ends of the cords out the bottom of the cylinder makes a warm glow for the entire room...

Candles go a long way

-Candles spread around the house give that warm feeling all year long, especially for christmas... -Love a single candle in every window  of a home...

Bring green in the house

-The smell of pine for the holidays, if you can’t have a real tree... fake it... put real pine around the house... A wreath, garland, branchs stuck in your arificial tree, swags, in centerpiece, draped over doorways, on the banister or just use pine scented candles...

Affordable decorating

-Hanging your cards up...

-Branchs from your yard, in a vase with ornaments or bells in the bottom to hold it up, hang small ornaments or bells off the ends... instant tree...

-Hang winterberry holly, dried eucalyptus, evergreens, dried hyrangea, pinecones, cranberries, white birch branches and small onaments off of gates, fence’s, mail boxes, window boxes, a sled or a bench on the front porch for a festive holiday look outside...
